Effluent treatment – New Vaal Depot
New Vaal treats waste water from mining workshop and fuel bay
Background
Procon Environmental Technologies where contracted to do a turn key project for New Vaal Colliery which included the civil design, a storm water run-off, silt handling and oil separation system installation.
The Problem
Hydrocarbon pollution existed in the storm water run off channel polluting fresh water process dam.
The Solution
In 2007 Procon Environmental Technologies installed a 15m3/h system along with a double silt trap removing polluted silt, treating the water. We also provided a sludge drying bay and silt remediation slab for onsite treatment thus reducing disposal costs of hydrocarbon polluted sludge.
